ABOUT THE POSITION

There is currently one (1) fulltime Senior Equipment Service Worker (75 bi-weekly hours) vacancy within the Fleet Division of the Department of Public Works. The Senior Equipment Service Worker performs general service and maintenance including minor repairs on light equipment; maintains records of servicing activity; acts in a lead capacity with the responsibility of training, checking, and correcting the work of others.
ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will have strong communication proven experience in equipment maintenance and repair, strong mechanical and technical skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service. The ideal candidate has personal and professional integrity, is highly organized, possesses excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE OF

  • Methods, tools, materials, parts, equipment used in servicing and making minor repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment; and
  • Tune up, engine tear down, transmission and welding techniques.
ABILITY TO
  • Assess and project inventory needs;
  • Direct work of others through oral instructions;
  • Use hand power tools; perform heavy manual labor;
  • Read, understand and follow oral and written instructions, information on records, forms and reports; and
  • Safely drive and maneuver vehicles.

Note: The ability to perform suspension work is desirable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
Equivalent to one year experience as an Equipment Service Worker (or two years of general equipment maintenance and servicing work) that demonstrates possession of the following knowledge and skills.
Certificates and Licenses
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a satisfactory driving history as obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
