About the Employer:Our client, a well-established law firm with a strong focus on employment law, is seeking a seasoned and highly skilled Senior Attorney to join their dynamic legal team. The firm is known for providing top-tier legal services to businesses and individuals across a wide spectrum of employment law matters, including litigation, compliance, and advisory services.
Job Description:The Senior Attorney will handle complex employment law cases, representing clients in a wide range of disputes involving wrongful termination, discrimination, wage and hour claims, and workplace harassment. This role will also include advisory responsibilities to corporate clients on employment law matters and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in employment-related litigation, including trials, mediations, and arbitrations
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
- Provide counsel to corporate clients on employment law compliance, employee handbooks, and policy creation
- Conduct thorough legal research and provide well-reasoned legal advice to clients
- Manage all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, and trial preparation
- Advise clients on employment law best practices to minimize risk and ensure regulatory compliance
- Participate in settlement negotiations, mediations, and other dispute resolution processes
- Supervise junior attorneys and paralegals, providing guidance and mentoring
- Stay up-to-date with changes in employment law at both the state and federal level
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active membership to the California State bar required
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in employment law, including litigation and advisory work
- Strong understanding of employment-related federal and state laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, and other relevant statutes
- Proven track record of managing complex employment law cases from start to finish
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both clients and colleagues
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple cases, and meet tight deadlines
- Leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff
- Trial experience is a significant plus
Preferred:
- Experience advising corporate clients on employment law matters
- Expertise in specific employment law areas such as wage and hour disputes, class actions, or ERISA
