Job description

A prestigious Bay Area boutique law firm seeks an accomplished attorney with a strong background in California Labor & Employment Law. This is a great opportunitiy for a labor and employment attorney who is looking to work with a collaborative team with a good work/life balance. We are looking for a labor and employment attorney with demonstrated academic and professional success and four or more years of litigation experience. Ideal candidates will have experience managing all aspects of employment litigation including written discovery, taking depositions, motion practice, and settlement negotiation and/or trial preparation. Attorneys are trusted with a significant amount of responsibility as the direct contact with the firm's clients, providing them with advice, drafting various memorandums, reports, and agreements, and regularly updating clients on labor and employment laws.

Responsibilies


  • Provide advice and counseling services to employers with the goal of keeping our clients out of litigation
  • Counsel on hiring, firing and discipline issues
  • Represent clients in litigation and in administrative hearings
  • Create handbooks, contracts, and general employment policies
  • Assist with and conduct workplace investigations
  • Work cross-functionally with attorneys from all areas of the firm

Qualifications:


  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Member and in good standing of the California State Bar
  • 4 or more years of litigation experience in labor and employment disputes and/or related civil litigation experience
  • Experience in legal research, discovery, and drafting complaints, motions, briefs, memorandums, discovery, and other legal correspondence, and trial preparation
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks throughout litigation while meeting deadlines efficiently
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, works well on a team
