Summary

We are seeking a skilled software engineer who will work within Precision Analytics and the AI/ML team specifically. This person will design and develop complex software in accordance with overall project goals that will impact precision medicine and drug discovery. The emphasis of this role is on infrastructure and frontend components that support large-scale data analytics and visualization.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally to enable scientists and other non-developers to perform queries, summarize statistics, and visualize data from different data sources.
  • Enable workflows to select data from a defined cohort of patients, load a desired subset of data, and train or run machine learning models.
  • Provide expertise as we make organization-wide decisions about data formats, cloud infrastructure for compute and storage, and the rest of our tech stack.
  • Establish agile software development and data management best practices.
  • Identify and mitigate performance, scaling, or resource issues.
  • Review other developers' code, provide feedback, and incorporate suggestions from others.
  • Write clear, accessible, and effective documentation that targets users with various levels of technical and scientific knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical fields.
  • 5 years or more of software engineering experience (data infrastructure and frontend development).
  • Familiar with cloud compute and storage (GCP, AWS, and/or Azure).
  • Passionate about high code quality, automated testing, collaborative developer workflow on Git, and other engineering best practices.
  • Effective communicator (verbal and written).

Additional preferred qualifications

  • Experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience with R and Python.
  • Experience with common bioinformatics and machine learning tools.
  • Experience with data platforms such as RedShift, Snowflake, and Databricks.
  • Familiarity with containers and data pipelining.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm)

The expected base pay range for this position is $120,000 - $175,000 plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. The base pay range reflects the target range for this position, but individual pay will be determined by additional factors such as job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training. This range may be modified in the future.
