Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Research, design, development, integration, and test of a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including RF datalinks, SATCOM and Communications Networks.
- Maintaining complex RF communications architectures, systems; circuitry components; analog and digital computers.
- Reporting comms status to Program Managers and IPT Management.
- Primary Responsible Engineer for complex communications subsystem, supplier technical interface, and focal IPT representative for integration support.
Qualified candidates should be prepared to research, design, develop, integrate, and test a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including radio and other communications equipment and network systems; circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment.
Once in role, this position could offer a hybrid work environment. Scheduled telework days are approved at manager's discretion. This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
This position can be filled at either the Principal Electronics Engineer - Comms Responsible Engineer level or the Senior Principal Electronics Engineer - Comms Responsible Engineer level, depending upon the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Electronics Engineer - Comms Responsible Engineer:
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience.
- Active in-scope, DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position. The Top Secret clearance must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP). This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of related engineering experience.
- Active in-scope, DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position. The Top Secret clearance must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP). This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Active in-scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Strong understanding of networking strategies including TCP/IP & WAN architectures.
- Familiar with current network products and technologies such as routers, firewalls, and switches
- RF and digital system design & analysis
- Antenna theory and operation
- COMMS Wideband and Narrowband integration and testing.Iridium, INMARSAT, Ku, CDL and Starlink a plus.
- Airborne platform radio integration such ARCs
- System Performance Verification and Component Qualifications for Flight
- System Engineering, Requirements Derivation
- Design documentation:E.g. Visio, Catia, interconnects and rack elevations
Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
