Overview:
The salary range for this position is $34.86 - $44.47 per hour ($72,500 - $92,500 per year) depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable. This position is grant-funded for up to three years. Continued employment is dependent on funding.
This position is scheduled to close on November 15, 2024 at 4pm PST.
First round interviews are expected to take place the first week of December.
KPBS serves the greater San Diego community with informative, cultural, entertaining and educational television, radio, and web programming. KPBS TV/FM is the public television and radio stations for San Diego. Licensed to San Diego State University, KPBS supports and furthers the university's educational and community service mission by informing, enlightening and empowering its audience. It does so not only by presenting national and locally produced programming of value to its San Diego audience, but also by producing programming about San Diego and its people for distribution nationwide.
As a member of the KPBS Digital Department, the Data Analyst is responsible for gathering data to enhance data-informed decision making. The purpose of this position is to help promote a culture of asking questions and using data to arrive at answers. Under the general direction of the Director of Digital, the Data Analyst will work closely with the Data Engineer and Digital Project Lead as well as subject matter experts in various departments to develop and track KPIs and other metrics for the entire organization. This role will also be pivotal in analyzing content consumption and market trends to better understand our existing audience, and build our audience in new demographics.
This position is pivotal in bridging the gap between analytical fact and telling a story and will help drive intelligent marketing campaigns and advancement with broader goals of the entire organization using data.

Responsibilities:
Data Analysis and Reporting (50%)
Determine departmental and organizational KPIs
Build and maintain dashboards to measure KPIs in a timely manner
Develop and maintain a library of analytics tools to be used by staff members with varying levels of technical ability and experience
Reports in various formats as determined by business needs based on analysis of available data
Ad hoc analysis as required
Data Modeling (25%)
Collaborate with Data Engineering to build performant data models used for reporting and analytics
Cross-functional training (15%)
Educating and informing other departments on our reporting and analytics datasets and BI tools
Other Data Analysis Duties as Assigned (10%)
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Abilities
Strong knowledge of SQL and Excel/Sheets skills
Demonstrated ability and expertise in building dashboards in a BI tool like Tableau or Looker
Demonstrated knowledge of Web tracking and reporting with Google Analytics
Knowledge of and familiarity with marketing fundamentals including: email campaigns, audience segmentation, subscriber churn/retention
Ability to problem solve with strong attention to detail; excellent analytical and communication skills
Ability to work individually and as a part of a team
Ability to interact effectively with co-workers, vendors and consultants
Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures
Ability to relate well to others within the project environment.
Ability to display motivation and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Education/ Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field (Marketing or Business, or related technical field such as Computer Science or Statistics), or additional experience that may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis
Two years of relevant work experience performing data analysis
Preferred Qualifications and Special Skills
3-5 years of experience in Data Analytics or Marketing (experience in Media or Digital Media is a plus);
2-3 years of which involve SQL, preferably on Snowflake
3-4 years of experience developing, maintaining and administering BI dashboards
Experience with and or all of the following: dbt (Data-Build Tool), Git and Github, Tableau BI tools, Snowflake data warehouse
Experience using Python for analysis and other data processing tasks
Experience with a customer data platform. Bonus for having used Lytics.
Experience creating and supporting data analyst workflows
Prior experience working at a non-profit organization
Strong customer service skills
