We are currently seeking talented individuals for our Junior Staff Accountant position!
Here is some of what you'll do
POSITION SUMMARY:
Hawthorne Machinery Company covers San Diego County, Hawaii and other Pacific Islands. Our growing company is currently in need of a responsible individual to fill the position of Junior Staff Accountant. We are looking for a multi-skilled candidate who can balance accounting with good people skills. This position provides financial and administrative support to the organization. Involved in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting functions to support Accounting.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Accounts Receivable
Apply payments received to accounts in a timely manner.
Prepare deposits for multiple entities - ensure accurate deposits
Resolve account discrepancies by investigating documentation
Accounts Payable
Entry of and process vendor invoices
Process & prepare payment of vendor invoices for multiple companies
Communicate and coordinate with vendors
General accounting
Assist with general ledger account reconciliations and bank reconciliations as needed.
Extensive knowledge of debit/credit accounting
Assist with journal entries as needed.
Understanding of corporate business licenses, familiarity with registration processes.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance preferred
Minimum 1-year related accounting and finance experience
1-3 years' experience in a corporate environment.
Ability to communicate effectively - strong verbal, listening and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards and compliance requirements
Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential
Strong attention to detail, accuracy is imperative
Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative
Intermediate Excel and Outlook skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Walking: Moving about on foot often up and down stairs.
Handling: Works with hands.
Lifting: May lift up to 25 lbs.
Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
Standing: Remains in standing position If required to perform various functions of the job.
Vision: Reads paperwork and records on the computer.
Talking: Communications by phone and in person.
Sitting: Sits at desk. Sits for long periods of time.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
Temp/Weather: Works in an office environment.
