Job description

Personnel will perform shipping, receiving, warehousing and inventory duties at the magazine area of the Weapons Division. Primary duties will consist of the following: DUTIES: Inspect, off-load, verify, and receive incoming shipments from commercial carrier vehicles. Package, prepare for shipment and load carrier vehicles with outgoing shipments, to include blocking and bracing. Store materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods and procedures. Re-pack, palletize, and apply appropriate markings of materials. Generate and apply bar code labels for materials in storage, incoming and outgoing shipments. Operate storage areas in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. Retrieve and process materials for transport or release to customer. Handle and process classified material up to and including security classification of SECRET. Prepare and submit all corresponding documentation including, but not limited to, inventory records, receipt documents, shipping documents, reports of discrepancy and any necessary reports and submittals. Inventory magazines using bar code scanner. Operate various types of materials handling equipment, to include powered forklifts. Operate vehicles up to and including five (5) ton stake truck as required. Perform daily/weekly alarm system checks and inspections.
Other duties as assigned: Working hours are based on the Government compressed work (Flex) schedule. Will be required to join the Union after 90 days of non-temporary employment or transfer. Must be able to work in extreme heat, cold and adverse weather conditions while working in and out of magazines and buildings. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Must be physically able to bend, stoop, lift and carry up to 80 lbs. Munition's handling experience required - Minimum 1 year experience Forklift operations experience preferred. Inventory experience preferred. Must be able to obtain a SECRET clearance within ninety (90) days of hire and maintain clearance for duration of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid CA Driver's License with Hazard endorsement. (Due to CA DMV requirements, no one under the age of 21 will be able to obtain.) Current DMV printout will be required. Must be able to pass and maintain a certified DMV medical examination. Must be able to read and interpret Blueprints/MILSPEC/MILSTD instructions. Familiarity with MIL NAVSEA OP5 preferred. Must be able to pass the Basic Explosive Safety Test (BEST) within 90 days of employment. Must be able to pass Explosive Drivers and Forklift Operators course within 90 days of employment. Must provide own safety shoes initially. Basic High School level math and reading comprehension skills required.
