Responsibilities:
Position Summary:

Incumbent is recognized as a demonstrated leader, mentor, and role model responsible for overseeing the volunteer program, providing immediate supervision and guidance to volunteers. Plans, organizes, and coordinates a broad variety of volunteer programs and services designed to enhance the patient, family, and visitor experience. Provides operational and functional support to the volunteer program and conducts volunteer recruitment, orientation, training, assignments, engagement, oversight, and performance. Ensures protocols and guidelines are followed and in compliance with departmental or organizational policies, procedures, and defined internal controls. Ensures accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures. Provides recommendations for improvements in utilization and efficiencies, assists in the development of program initiatives, oversees budget, and participates in outreach activities as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Two (2) years prior leadership experience overseeing volunteers/employees in a hospital or other health care setting

Resourcefulness to identify and search for information that is not readily available

Must possess the skill, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, advising and counseling skills.

Flexibility to work flexible hours, including occasional weekend

Experience with public speaking / presentation

Experience with event planning and coordination/oversight

Excellent skills using MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)

Excellent planning, organization and time management skills

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and influence others.

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of workflows and systems.

Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff

Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent education/experience

Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to independently problem solve and apply sound reasoning to new and/or non-routine situations

Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Ability to effectively communicate in English in a clear and concise manner

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of University and Medical Center policies and processes

Demonstrated customer service experience

Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese
