The Process Development Scientist at Amgen leads in the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes. They apply their scientific expertise to increase efficiency, improve product quality, and address manufacturing challenges, while maintaining adherence to regulatory standards.

Amgen is seeking a Scientist to join the Cell Line Development group in our state-of-the-art research facility at the Amgen headquarters campus located in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Cell Line Development group is responsible for developing production cell lines for Amgens large molecule pipeline. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for supporting pipeline program advancement and contributing to cell line technology improvements. The candidate will be responsible for the generation and creation of expression vectors and strategies, executing mammalian cell culture processes and optimizing expression as well as utilize solid problem-solving skills to deliver pipeline programs. Additional responsibilities may also include developing innovative methods to support and improve expression technologies, generating relevant data toward publications, patent applications, and regulatory submissions. The candidate will work in a team environment, collaborating with various colleagues in process development, discovery, as well as interact with regulatory and quality experts in support of global regulatory filings.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 4 years of Scientific experience OR

  • Masters degree and 2 years of Scientific experience OR

  • Doctorate degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS with 6+ years of experience or BS with 8+ years of relevant industry experience

  • Previous hands-on experience in cell culture with a focus on mammalian cell recombinant protein Production

  • Strong scientific understanding of recombinant protein expression, cell line and gene editing Technologies

  • Experience with DNA cloning, expression vector construction and design with an understanding of molecular biology techniques

  • Understanding of cellular metabolism, media optimization

  • Experience with automation and use in high throughput cell culture is a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive leadership mindset

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
