Grad Intern - Cardiometabolic Disorders
What You Will DoLets do this. Lets change the world. During the internship, you will join our Cardiometabolic Therapeutic Area Research team in Thousand Oaks, and will have an opportunity to aid in developing a treatment for cardiometabolic disease. You will:
- Collaborate with a team of experienced drug discovery research scientists.
- With some supervision, design and perform laboratory experiments to interrogate the actions of drugs and drug targets
- Analyze and visualize data generated in the lab, using common software packages such as Excel and Graphpad Prism
- Present results internally and engage with coworkers in scientific discussions
- Keep accurate records of experiments and procedures in accordance with compliance guidelines
- Other tasks may be required to support the team as a whole
- You will also have opportunities to interact with Amgen employees outside of the research team

Basic Qualifications:
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
- 18 years or older
- Graduated with a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
- Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Masters program for a Masters internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR Ph.D. for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR Masters OR Pharm D OR Ph.D. program before the internship starts
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment
- Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
- Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship or co-op
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program with concentration(s) in biological sciences
- Deep knowledge and demonstrated lab skills in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or relevant fields of experimental sciences
- Strong desire to perform in vitro lab experiments and advancing projects in the biopharmaceutical industry setting
- Interest in studying signaling mechanisms downstream of membrane-bound receptors

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $30 - $40 per hour.
