Job Description

We are looking for an Music Teacher with a passion for bilingual education and social justice. This individual will join a successful team of educators at a K-8 public charter school focused on the development of biliterate and globally and social-emotionally competent scholars. Candidates will demonstrate experience in special education services and assessment, constructivist teaching methodology, project-based learning, restorative behavior practices and classroom management, collaboration with others, social-emotional learning, and language acquisition.

Art Teachers must be committed to preserving the mission, vision, and educational philosophy of the school. This includes collaborating with the school community to maintain a positive learning environment promoting values such as respect, safety, mutual support, motivation, and personal growth. Teachers report to the Principal.

Salary Range is $61,846 - $100,709 depending on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure that students are developing MLC's Academic Competencies, Global Competencies and Social Emotional-Competencies, and Behavior Standards.

Create and maintain effective environments for student learning including physical environment, student-centered learning, display of student artifacts and learning process, and through implementation of constructivist learning opportunities.

Design and implement visual art courses for students in grades TK-8 during the academic school year.

Work collaboratively with MLC's teachers to support student learning and completion of integrated projects aligning with grade level content standards and themes.

Incorporate explicit learning and application of MLC Five Standards in daily instruction and integrate academic learning.

Continually support student behavior by creating systems for feedback, reflection, and growth that are monitored regularly and develop individualized behavior plans for students when needed.

Support MLC policies and procedures for health and safety on campus.

Maintain and organize art supplies, providing input to staff for ordering and replenishing.

Collaborate with school leadership and staff on presentations of student art work.
