JOB SUMMARY:

The Grant Accountant is the primary source of program financial management. The grant accountant is responsible for coordinating the preparation, review, and submission of government and foundation financial information. In addition, they will monitor the daily financial performance of all post award grants and contracts to ensure compliance with policies and regulations. The goal of the grant accountant is to become a financial business partner with each program director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs grant-related post award functions, including budget and expense analysis, periodic invoicing, financial reporting, labor distribution changes and budget modifications.

Develop financial forecasts and overviews designed to monitor expenditures and revenues for program.

Analyze and explain budget variances and propose possible solutions.

Prepare grant funding submissions for government and foundation agencies.

Support program with time and effort reporting, ensuring it is complete and in compliance with applicable regulations.

Review and monitor subcontracts related to special projects related to program.

Ensure that budget and expenditures are within Grant compliance according to appropriate laws and regulations.

Financial liaison for associated program reviews and audits.

Assists in grant close-out process.

Ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.

Supervise Accounting Analyst

Complete LA Metro month end close procedure.

Finance liaison to Charter Partners

Create and provide semi-quarterly Fiscal trainings and ad hoc trainings as needed.

Act as fiscal strategic/thought partner for assigned business unit(s). example - GM/AGM meetings

Develop overall financial business plan for assigned business unit(s). example - reverse pass-through contracts

Coordinate with appropriate parties to support the development of new business proposal request, review proposals/contracts/MOUs, ensure that proper accounting codes are assigned, and develop fiscal operating plans for new business/projects. example - review of all LAM contracts

Oversee and ensure that invoicing details are relayed to Accounting for timely processing. Example - meet with lucy to review invoicing on bi-monthly basis.

Collaborate with regional leadership and operations to develop annual operating plans/budgets and update as required to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and established goals. Example - budget creation FY25

Act as point of contact/support for all Finance & Accounting needs within assigned business unit(s), to address questions/issues related to internal policies/procedures, AP, AR, credit cards, payroll, and other day-to-day operations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required, extensive field experience may substitute for degree.

Minimum of two years accounting experience required with degree.

Ability to monitor and maintain expenditures and data for multiple projects and budgets with completing deadlines.

3-5 years of accounting experience preferred.

Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skill with strong attention to details.

Knowledge of GAAP, business principles, and governmental regulations.

Knowledge of fund accounting system preferred or ERP level accounting system experience.

Must be technologically savvy and comfortable using a paperless document system.

Knowledge of nonprofit accounting, cost principles, and allowable costs.

Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

Ability to design, analyze, and prepare financial reports.

Team player, self-starter with the ability to prioritize and multitask.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with varied members who represent a wide range of interests.

Must be able to work independently and exercise considerable discretionary decisionmaking as it pertains to the financials of the organization.

Must have access to reliable transportation. Some travel between program sites may be required.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain highest degree of confidentiality.

Comply with organization policies and follow procedures.

Must pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting), provide a clear TB test.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Teams

Strong proficiency in the QuickBooks, ERP Accounting Systems, and or other accounting software

Adobe Acrobat

COMPENSATION:

Salary Range $80,000 - $90,000

This is the targeted compensation for the position. A range of factors, including but not limited to; location, skills, experience, will be considered. Actual compensation may vary.
