Overview:
The Specialist, Payroll will support payroll for an assigned group of offices or regions. This individual will monitor all tasks necessary to accomplish payroll processing objectives for their assigned group of offices or regions. This individual must be extremely detail orientated with significant knowledge and experience of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations. The Specialist, Payroll is responsible for providing accurate and timely processing of payroll, problem resolution as needed, commitment to process improvement and strong customer service. The Specialist, Payroll will also assist junior team members with troubleshooting complex payroll issues or queries.

Responsibilities

Compile, track and enter payroll data into the payroll system such as: hours worked, vacation, personal and vacation hours, taxes and union dues to be withheld.

Follow established procedures to accurately process semi-monthly payroll for their assigned offices or regions.

Process child support, wage garnishments and terminations.

Review wages computed, audit timekeeping records and correct any errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.

Audit new hires on payroll master records for multi-state companies.

Record data concerning transfer of employees between departments, rate changes, address changes and direct deposit.

Support the employee maintenance in the system, including compensation updates and employee status changes and other changes as needed.

Prepare and issue any manual checks as necessary.

Process, review and audit automated standard reports to verify accuracy and correct any out of balance transactions as necessary.

Facilitate audit requests, prepare special reports and/or work on special projects as assigned by management.

Mentor, train and provide support to junior team members on issues and questions concerning payroll related topics.

Resolve payroll questions and issues from the region or national support staff by collecting and analyzing information and works with the appropriate channels to resolve timely and accurately.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Required

2-4 years of processing Payroll in a large multi-state, multi-location environment.

Associate's Degree or higher in related field from an accredited college or university.

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Human Resources or related field.

Experience in UltiPro Payroll software, Workday Payroll or similar systems experience.

Fundamental Payroll Professional (FPP) designation preferred.

Knowledge of IRS and various state regulations regarding payroll and accounting reconciliations/auditing techniques.

Salary Information:
$18.61-$31.31 / Hourly
