The Kids Elementary K/1 Coordinator will work closely with the Elementary Director and Elementary Pastor to inspire kids to follow Jesus and fearlessly change the world, by managing and implementing early childhood programs for children from birth through pre-K. Reporting to the Elementary Pastor on the Kids team, this role is responsible for coordinating daily activities, supporting volunteers and parents, and ensuring a safe and enriching environment for children. The Coordinator will play a key role in executing curriculum, overseeing classroom activities, and contributing to the overall success of the kindergarten and first grade ministry.

A full time position, the schedule includes weekend services, meetings at our office in Irvine, and additional time during the week for a total of 40 hours. This position is nonexempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Responsibilities

Program Coordination:

Assist in the implementation of age-appropriate curriculum and programs that promote spiritual, social, and emotional development.

Plan and coordinate weekly activities, lessons, and special events for assigned age groups.

Ensure that all programs are executed smoothly and meet the developmental needs of the children.

Volunteer Management:

Recruit, train, and support volunteers for various roles within the Elementary Ministry.

Schedule and oversee volunteer activities, ensuring they are adequately prepared and informed.

Provide ongoing feedback and encouragement to volunteers to foster a positive and effective working environment.

Grow a volunteer team that oversees small groups and large group area which includes teachers.

Communicate, encourage and care for volunteers weekly through email, phone calls, texts and in person meet ups.

Help equip, lead and manage a coaching team.

Weekend Classroom and Environment Management:

Oversee daily operations within assigned classrooms, including setting up, tearing down, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized space.

Monitor and assess the effectiveness of classroom activities and make adjustments as needed.

Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations, including child protection policies and procedures.

Parent and Family Engagement:

Build strong relationships with parents and guardians, addressing their concerns and providing support as needed.

Communicate regularly with parents about their child's progress and upcoming events.

Organize and facilitate parent education workshops and family engagement activities.

Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and other relevant date.

Assist in the preparation of reports and updates for the Elementary Director.

Manage classroom supplies and resources, ensuring they are stocked and in good condition.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with the 2nd/3rd coordinator to ensure alignment within the ministry and the Elementary Director to align programs and strategies.

Participate in team meetings and contribute to planning and decision-making processes.

Collaborate with other ministry teams to integrate early childhood programs with broader church initiatives.
