Job description

Duties Performs carpentry work where final product must be serviceable but appearance is not important. Uses a variety of hand and power tools typical of the carpentry trade. Performs carpentry repairs. Develops self-conceived designs for standard range equipment and target devices or customer requested targets. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance. Work involves considerable amount of bending, stretching and working in cramped spaces. The employee is required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier with assistance. The incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter. This position requires a pre-employment and annual physical examination. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Perform the most difficult and complex carpenter tasks including; modifying various wood and wood substitute structures; applying advanced woodworking techniques and shop mathematics; installing foundations, walls, floors, ceilings and roofs using materials such as wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials; installing doors, window frames, stairs and railings; preparing project layout and determine dimensions and materials required (e.g., construction and maintenance of wooden range related equipment, minor building repair, bleachers, trusses, roofs, fixed target and target frame fabrication, tent frames, warning markers, signs, ammunition tables, doors, foxhole steps and covers, where final product must be serviceable; removing damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repaired or replaced them; inspecting ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures; laying out and constructing forms; assisting masons with cement pour and finishing. I use a variety of hand and power tools typical of the carpentry trade. Plan and lay out work in accordance with drawings, sketches, blueprints and own knowledge of construction or repair. Develop and work from self-conceived designs for standard range equipment and target devices or customer requested targets. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. The employee is exposed to the prevailing weather conditions; hot & humid, cold & damp. The employee is subject to injury from working with hand and power tools. There is a possibility of electrical shock when working with electrical systems.
