Job description
Duties Manage the performance of the staff as it applies to food production, modified diets, culinary presentation, food quality, food safety, and sanitation. Conduct staff training and develop training plans related to food production, modified diets, culinary presentation, food quality, food safety, and sanitation. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments to provide a unified food and dining service experience for the command's DVs. Manage all activities related to food production and culinary operations within the division, complying with established standards and applicable regulations. Requirements Conditions of Employment A one year trial/probationary period may be required. Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Visit This position has a requirement to lift up to 20 lbs. in the regular performance of duties, as well as occasional lifting of over 40 lbs. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. This position requires a US Army in Europe (USAREUR) Driver's License. This position requires a uniform. Cooks are required to wear black professional slip resistant footwear and black chef pants or dress pants (no jeans). Head gear and a chef jacket will be provided. Qualifications Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 2 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement. Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only. Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions. Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250. For positions in a foreign country, that country's laws or international agreements may have a direct impact on the ability of an employee's same sex domestic partner or spouse to accompany the employee and receive certain benefits.
