Job Title: Night Custodian - Boone Park Elementary Department: Facilities Management Location: Boone Park Elementary Job Status: Full-Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Facility Custodian Supervisor Grade/Level: Pre-K-12 Amount of Travel Required: None Work Schedule: 40 hours a week minimum with the possibility of some overtime; Monday through Friday Positions Supervised: None Job Summary: The Custodian at North Little Rock School District, within the Facilities Management Department, is responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and disinfecting various areas of a facility. This role involves performing basic cleaning, sanitation, and minor maintenance tasks under the supervision of the Facility Custodian Supervisor to ensure a clean and safe environment within the school facilities. Essential Functions: Cleaning and Sanitation: Perform thorough cleaning and sanitation of classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas. Disinfect frequently touched surfaces. Empty trash receptacles and replace liners. Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors. Event Setup and Support: Arrange furniture and equipment for various school events. Ensure event spaces are prepared and set up to meet specific requirements. Grounds Maintenance: Perform landscaping activities like mowing grass, trimming, cleaning playground areas, and removing trash. Minor Maintenance: Conduct minor maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture, and fixtures, including tasks like changing vacuum cleaner belts and bags, repairing desks, and changing light bulbs. Summer Maintenance: Participate in activities like strip/waxing floors, moving furniture, and painting during the summer. Daily Operations: Prepare school facilities for daily operations, including unlocking doors, checking systems, and raising flags. Winter Weather Response: Remove snow, ice, sand, and other hazards to ensure access and safety. Supply Management: Replenish classroom and restroom supplies. Monitor and manage inventory levels. Information and Assistance: Respond to inquiries and provide assistance and direction regarding facility maintenance. Emergency Response: Monitor emergency situations and utilize emergency shut-off locations as needed. Supporting Site Maintenance Staff: Collaborate with other site maintenance staff to ensure completion of custodial activities. Job Requirements: Basic math skills and ability to follow instructions. Knowledge of industrial cleaning methods and safety procedures. Ability to operate job-related equipment. Flexibility to work with a diverse team. Strong communication skills. Dependability and ability to meet deadlines. Willingness to work under direct supervision. Work Environment: Physical demands include lifting, carrying, pushing, and some climbing. Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Predominantly walking and standing. Work may occur in hazardous conditions and minimal temperature variations. Other Requirements: Ability to pass an ASP/FBI background check. State of Arkansas Low-Pressure Boiler/Operators license. Other Physical Requirements: Vision (Near, Distance, Peripheral, Depth Perception) Sense of Sound, Smell, and Touch Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as eye goggles, aprons, gloves, boots, etc. Physical Demands: Constant standing, walking, handling, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder. Frequently climbing, squatting, kneeling, bending. Frequently lifting items weighing up to 20 lbs. Occasionally lifting items up to 40 lbs. The work environment is located in a school setting, with frequent contact with students and adults. The environment ranges from working inside to working outside on different custodial tasks.
