Arete specializes in developing cutting-edge embedded and GUI software solutions for Navy sensor data acquisition, system control, and real-time data processing/post-processing. We are seeking a talented Staff Software Engineer with experience in embedded and GUI software to support Navy sensor systems. This role involves designing, developing, and testing software solutions for sensor data acquisition, system control, and real-time data processing and post-processing.This is an exempt, non-supervisory, full-time position based in our Tucson, AZ office.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and implement new features and bug fixes for Navy sensor systems.
• Perform testing using embedded processors, circuit boards, and related test equipment.
• Develop and present innovative software designs at customer meetings.
• Participate actively in scrum meetings and collaborate with a small software/hardware team.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently and manage project components to meet tight deadlines.

Experiences and Background We Look For:

• Minimum 5 years of software development experience
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science
• C++ and embedded development experience
• Collaborative team experience (Scrum)
• Strong customer communication and presentation skills

Nice to Have:

• Linux systems-level knowledge and C++ programming
• VSCode cross-platform development experience
• Familiarity with serial communication: SPI, UART, I2C
• GPU programming (CUDA)
• C# code development with WinForms, WPF, Avalonia UI
• Active security clearance

The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $150,000; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.

Other Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required to meet position eligibility.

Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
