Incumbent must be qualified and certified for flight line driving May be required to work with hazardous materials such as asbestos or accumulated waste. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment on such occasions Some of the work is sedentary, and some requires walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and standing. It also requires bending, moderate lifting, and carrying loads weighing up to 50 pounds, pulling heavy cables, as well as working areas difficult to access. Work will be performed indoors in office-like settings and industrial areas, and outdoors. Safety precautions to include use of personal protective equipment when necessary, must be used Some of the industrial work areas are cold, very noisy, and poorly lighted. Industrial areas also pose the risk of exposure to fuel, asbestos, lead paint, and electrical hazards Outside areas will expose the incumbent to wind, rain, and freezing weather. Office areas are adequately heated and lighted Position requires a Secret security clearance The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position This is a drug tested designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2800, Electrical Installation and Maintenance Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a WG-2805 ELECTRICIAN SUPERVISOR without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1 Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques pertaining to installation, operation, and maintenance and repair of circuits, breakers, fixtures, panels, controls, switches, transformers, insulators, grounding systems, fuses, relays, meters, cathodic protection systems, floodlight systems, power supplies, and emergency generators. 2 Knowledge of electrical and electrical principles and instruments used m shop and trade practices, and the technical practices m adjusting relays and control equipment to obtain specified voltage, current, time delay, and other characteristics for appropriate holding, tripping, or other operational functions Installing rigid and flexible conduits Pulling in conductors, assembles bus bars, and connects conductors Working on secondary distribution lines and circuits used to supply distribution panels, switchgear, power and control circuits. 3 Knowledge of, and ability to implement, sound personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/Equal Employment Treatment. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures, particularly those applicable to National Electric Code (NEC), Air Force Occupational Safety and Health (AFOSH), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and any others that apply to high/low voltage electrical systems, working on live circuits, and confined space. 4 Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, rotation meters, digital test equipment, faultfinding equipment, amp meters, voltmeters, meggers, and graphic recorders. Knowledge m troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems on high/low voltage electrical distribution system components, calculations for line losses, and dielectric/conductive properties of material. 5. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. 6 Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and m writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
