Job description
Duties Acts as the focal point for visual information (VI) activities. Plans, schedules, and coordinates customer service requests. Serves as focal point for all audio/visual equipment. Provides A/V and IT support for AWEC and base theater events and activities, as well as customer support, assistance, training, and orientation. Assists the AWEC director/manager, who is responsible for managing the 773 FSS/FSW AWEC and base theaters, including an auditorium, a prep kitchen, executive rooms, meeting rooms, general offices, a distinguished visitor lounge, bars, and break areas. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. 2 years of relevant, full-time work experience is desired. Every 2 years of IT related education may be substituted for 1 year of work experience. Qualifications Continued from Conditions of Employment Cyberspace Qualification is a condition of employment. This position includes Cyberspace work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoDM 8140.03, para 4.2.a.(2)., requires foundational qualification requirements within 9 months of assignment to a cyberspace work role and resident qualification requirements within 12 months of assignment to a cyberspace work role. A waiver of these requirements may be granted per DoDM 8140.03. Failure to achieve and maintain the proper Cyberspace Qualification may result in removal from this position. This position may include information assurance (IA) work as an additional duty. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the recipient of this additional duty must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six-month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in the reassignment of this additional duty to another employee within the organization. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-7, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of audio and video components, hardware, software, and network communications and how they interconnect in normal and variable operating conditions for executing applications programs on network multi-user systems; knowledge of presentation systems in order to plan schedules, and interpret status of operations at time of failure; knowledge of computer system analysis, and equipment operations to identify the nature and source of computer related and information processing problems that affect audiovisual operations and implement workable solutions. Note: Resume must show supporting details OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Combination of experience and education to meet the qualifications of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-7 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-9 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of visual communication, illustration, design, layout principles, and concepts for the conception, planning, and execution of a variety of complex projects. Knowledge of the operations, products, services, needs, and goals of programs and other organizations serviced and related customers, functions, resources, and users. Knowledge of methods and procedures for operating a variety of computer systems and multimedia and audiovisual/video teleconferencing and sound system equipment. Knowledge of office automation software, safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures; ability to analyze routine system/component problems and recommend solutions. Skill to manage event timelines and special events; knowledge of base unit missions, functions, organizations and ongoing activities at JBER. Skill in effectively diagnosing, resolving, or utilizing local resources to remedy a variety of IT and Audiovisual issues. Ability to present subject matter information in a visual form to convey an intended message or to achieve desired effect upon a specific audience. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels both orally and in writing often with a short suspense; knowledge of briefing preparation and presentation; ability to communicate ideas concerning visual media while exercising tact and diplomacy.
