Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team in Selma, AL. This position offers an opportunity to work collaboratively with experienced Occupational Therapists and interdisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional rehabilitative care across various clinical settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Occupational Therapists in conducting patient evaluations and assessments to determine functional status and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, including therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living (ADL) training, and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, outcomes, and responses to treatment interventions.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and strategies to promote independence and enhance functional abilities.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with regulatory standards and facility policies.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) issued by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA in Alabama.
  • CPR certification (BLS).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in a healthcare setting, preferably in rehabilitation, acute care, or outpatient services.
  • Specialized training or certifications in areas such as geriatrics, pediatrics, neurorehabilitation, or hand therapy.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and documentation practices.
