Job description

Specialist - Plant Engineering (PLC) Position Summary: Coordinates, monitors, and performs specialized technical processes and related functions directly related to welding and PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) activities in the Plant Engineering & Maintenance Department in an automotive manufacturing environment to meet and exceed company goals and objectives. Essential Functions: Diagnose and repair issues with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and other automation equipment. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on control systems and automation equipment to ensure continuous and efficient operation. Develop and modify PLC programs using software such as Allen-Bradley RSLogix or similar platforms. Configure and program HMI interfaces for effective operator control and data visualization. Integrate new machinery and equipment into existing control systems. Lead and support automation projects from conception through implementation, including project planning, design, installation, testing, and commissioning. Provide technical support and training to maintenance team members on the operation and troubleshooting of automated systems. Develop and maintain documentation for control systems, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and software programs. Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes. Provide technical direction and support to identify and troubleshoot problems, propose countermeasures; resolve issues. Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application for software and equipment maintenance and upgrades. Develop preventative maintenance plan in the SAP system. Maintain spare parts for mechanical equipment within the SAP system. Monitor contractor work for quality assurance. Support and/or lead continuous improvement activities. Develop, document, and provide technical presentations. Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements. Meet all other requirements as assigned. Position Requirements: Education Bachelor s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent preferred Related Experience 2 10 years job related experience preferred 3 5 years in manufacturing environment desired Skills / Knowledge MS Word MS Excel MS Access SAP desired
