Job description

Duties Responsible for planning, organizing, and determining the 1) associated training, 2) estimated costs, 3) required staff / line management coordination, and 4) phases of work needed for successful completion of the project plan. Determines feasibility of prevention activities for implementation in a military environment. Integrates comprehensive primary prevention efforts through coalitions and partnerships within and outside of the military community. Ensures there is proactive communication and collaboration of prevention activities in the military community. Advises local leadership on how to address risk factors and develop protective factors. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. One year trial/probationary period may be required. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance with access for the duration of employment. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirements for Supervisory Prevention Specialist (Prevention Lead) (PREV WF): A: Degree: Bachelor's Degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science degree or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the NH-02/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1.) Developing comprehensive prevention plans for the prevention of harmful behaviors; 2.) Advising and educating leaders on primary prevention activities; 3.) Analyzing data and processes of harmful behavior contributing factors; 4.) Identifying risk factors and developing protective factors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service NH-02. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
