Position Description: As a Structural Analyst, you will provide insight in the development, test, and certification of liquid propulsion systems for NASAs engine development programs at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, AL. You will become part of a multi-discipline team with the charter to establish flight rationale for Americas next generation of manned launch vehicles. Primary job duties include: Engaging with senior engineers to provide insight on liquid engine structural elements and test fixtures Produce independent analytical assessments Develop and deliver reports and presentations Collaborate with vendors and personnel from other NASA centers in the development of integrated flight hardware and associated ground test equipment Qualifications: A BS degree (MS preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering or Engineering Mechanics or related field is required. A degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirement is a BS with 0 - 5 years of experience. Required Skills: Familiarity with one or more major commercial finite element code such as PATRAN, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, or ANSYS. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in the application of finite element methods, empirical closed-form structural analysis techniques, and the assessment of failure mechanisms is highly desired.
