Job Description:

We are seeking a Sr. Associate, Quality Engineer (Calibration Lead) to work at either our existing state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Toney, AL, and/or our new, AMF in Huntsville, AL, which will be our inert manufacturing facility for fabrication and assembly of composite rocket motor hardware.

The Sr. Associate, Quality Engineer (Calibration Lead) works under moderate supervision to set objectives for own job area. Communicates with contacts inside and outside own team to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures Identifies and addresses changes within own job area. Works to achieve operational targets with some impact on departmental results.

Essential Functions:

  • The metrology and tooling calibration lead oversees the scheduling, execution, and documentation of calibration activities to ensure measurement devices and tools meet precise standards.
  • This role involves coordinating externally with our 3rd party calibration service provider and internally with our manufacturing teams, managing calibration workflows, maintaining compliance with industry regulations, and implementing quality control measures to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of instruments critical to production processes.
  • Utilizes engineering background and expertise to communicate between team members and customer counterparts to provide assurance that the hardware is compliant to specifications.
  • Handles and communicates deviations/nonconformance at different levels within the organization. Understands and communicates typical aerospace processes (machining, welding, non-destructive testing, etc.) and how they are applied to the hardware being manufactured.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements to ensure compliance with the customer's expectations.
  • Interfaces with the Material Review Board (MRB) to provide technical justification when a nonconformance to mutually agreed specifications is determined.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Requires practical knowledge of job area. Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
