R- Description Leidos Defense Systems is looking for Junior Computer /Electrical Engineers with experience to serve as very large-scale integration (VLSI) computer engineers within the Sensor Systems Analysis and Engineering Department (SSA&E). You will join a diverse team of engineers, scientists, and software developers to create unique solutions for complex problems. Our team solves important problems that make a difference, supporting our customers in the current and future defense of our nation including the growing area of protective technology. You'll eventually work onsite within an established and very skilled team, alongside other contractors and our customers. Primary Responsibilities Candidate may work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to solve problems in a variety of disciplines to include microprocessor and microcontroller architectures, FPGA architectures, design of digital circuits, VLSI design, electronic design automation (EDA), software programming, and hardware security (counterfeit circuit detection, hardware trojans, side-channel analysis, etc.) applications. Candidate is also expected to have the ability to work and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team, demonstrating the ability to work within an established and very skilled team of engineers and scientists, contributing to various projects by explaining technical solutions, practices, and procedures to others within the organization. The job requires working knowledge of and ability to apply standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques of one's specialized technical domain. The candidate should be able to demonstrate an ability more than one of the following: • Knowledge of microprocessor and microcontroller architectures • Knowledge of FPGA architectures and how they work • Experience in the design of digital circuits (Verilog or VHDL) • Experience in VLSI design • Experience in EDA • Experience in hardware security applications • Programming ability (shell scripting level and back-end level) Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or an equivalent engineering or science degree with relevant experience. 0-2 years of experience with a BS degree. or a MS degree with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience. Must be able to maintain a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance. Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL, area. Preferred Qualifications In addition to the qualifications listed above, the ideal candidate should be a strong communicator and highly organized, demonstrating the ability to be accountable for small projects because the need to fit into a highly productive team seamlessly. Preference may be given to candidates with one of more of the following: recent stellar academic performance; relevant experience working in protective technologies; a SECRET clearance or higher. Pay Range: Pay Range $53,950.00 - $97,525.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
