Job description

We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dedicated team in Grand Bay, AL. As a COTA, you will support occupational therapists in delivering high-quality care to patients, helping them achieve their goals and enhance their quality of life. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in patients' lives and working collaboratively within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by Occupational Therapists. Provide direct therapeutic interventions to help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities.

  • Assessment Support: Help gather data and assist in the assessment process to evaluate patients progress and needs. Document patients responses to treatment and report any significant changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist.

  • Treatment Implementation: Utilize therapeutic techniques and modalities as prescribed by the Occupational Therapist. Work with patients on exercises, activities, and adaptive equipment to promote functional independence.

  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on exercise programs, safety techniques, and home modifications to support continued progress outside of therapy sessions.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough records of patient treatments, progress, and responses. Ensure all documentation adheres to legal and professional standards.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Occupational Therapists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and effective patient care. Participate in team meetings and case conferences.

  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing education and training to stay current with occupational therapy practices and enhance professional skills.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

  • Certification: Current and valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

  • Experience: Prior experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not required. New graduates are welcome to apply.

  • Skills: Strong clinical skills, effective communication and interpersonal abilities, and a collaborative approach to patient care. Ability to adapt to various patient needs and handle a diverse caseload.

  • Attributes: Empathetic, patient-focused, and committed to supporting patients goals. Reliable, organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
