Compensation:
Pay Range: $19.80 - $32.15 / hour
- $5,000 new hire sign-on bonus (Full-Time only)

Unit Details:
The Neurology and Seizure Monitoring Unit (M8) is a 25-bed acute care unit providing specialized care to patients with neuro disorders, including epilepsy, central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma, myasthenia gravis (MG), Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), and multiple sclerosis (MS). UAB Medicine is home to Alabama's only Level IV Epilepsy Center, the highest designation available from the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. Nurses on this unit have an opportunity to work with a comprehensive range of advanced technology and the latest treatments. They are active members of an interdisciplinary care team, working alongside neurologists and neurosurgeons with expertise in all types of epilepsy. In addition, UAB Neurology and Neurosurgery is consistently ranked among the top 50 programs of its kind nationally by U.S. News & World Report, which also has ranked UAB's program as No. 1 in Alabama.
Multiple Shifts Available:
UAB Medicine supports work/life balance. The shifts available for this unit are:
- Full-Time AM: 3 12-hour shifts per week (6:30am-7:00pm)
- Full-Time PM: 3 12-hour shifts per week (6:30pm-7:00am)
- Flexi/PRN

Job Description:
General Responsibilities Under general supervision, to provide nursing care to patients based on the nursing process, UAB Hospital Standards of Nursing Care, and UAB Hospital policies and procedures while ensuring quality of care. To orient patients and family members to surrounding environment, acting as a patient advocate. To collect patient assessment data and notify RN of potential problems. To evaluate patient's response to care and report findings to RN, document delivery of patient care, effectively respond to emergency situations, demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, meet patient's educational needs, and serve as a role model to other members of the patient care team. Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Assists with patient care by executing and administering treatments and procedures directed by supervisor.
2. Reports to supervisor and other staff any patient issues or concerns.
3. Maintains accurate patient records; e.g., charts, schedules, procedures, medication/treatment history, etc.
4. Educates patients and family members in accordance with the established plan of care.
5. Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing Program required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Licenses / Certifications / Registrations
