Description

The Circulation Night Supervisor shares responsibility for staffing the circulation desk on evenings and weekends when classes are in session and during regular business hours when classes are not in session. He/she also shares responsibility for opening and closing the building, for the security of the patrons, and operation of all library equipment.
Job Duties
• Opens and closes the building and/or individual departments, including securing of money, equipment and doors. Shares responsibility for making decisions concerning security and service of the library at night and/or on the weekend.
• Charges materials in and out, answers directional questions, answers and directs telephone calls, and operates/troubleshoots photocopy machines, microfilm and microfiche printers.
• Maintains records and files generated at the circulation points including overdue notices, delinquencies, search and hold requests, and student work rosters.
• Assists in maintaining reserve materials, including occasionally placing/removing materials on reserve.
• Assists in the use and maintenance of audio/visual equipment, computers and other equipment for which the circulation department is responsible.
• Assists in training, scheduling, and supervising student workers. Responsible for assignment and follow-up of duties for student assistants at night and on the weekend.
• Duties include partial weekends and regular night duty until midnight or closing. Work hours sometimes vary to support the University's academic calendar.
• Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one (1) year of library work experience or customer service experience.
• Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
• Ability to report to work daily, five days per week, and continuously throughout the day.
• Ability to work until midnight or closing.
• Ability to learn and follow routine procedures.
• Ability to pass basic tests in arithmetic, computer knowledge, English language, spelling, and vocabulary.
• Ability to communicate articulately with the public and internal staff.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
• Familiarity with circulation procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
• Supervisory experience, preferred.
